This is the last session of Part A. At the conclusion of this session, our assessment skills must be ready to support our treatment of patients in end-to-end treatment scenarios. Practice, Practice, Practice. Our scenarios will integrate all the parts of assessment we have learned and will concentrate on the focused body survey.
Tonight's discussion focuses on how to be a good patient and what the patient's role is in our treatment scenarios. The guided practice introduces the first of our patient treatments, bandaging of burns and soft tissue injuries. We will learn how to effectively bandage upper body parts tonight. WARNING: This is a very full night of guided practice. We will all need to focus to get through it and preserve the scenario time.
Beginning with session 5, one third of us will be patients for the class session. As patients, we must know the ailment, its symptoms and proper treatment and we must be prepared to evaluate the treatment that we receive and tell our rescuers how they did.
At the end of this session, the patients for session 5 will receive their treatment scenarios so they can prepare thoroughly to be patients in the next session.
